Diane Keaton is charming, funny, and she does look amazing for 73, no doubt about it. She is also fashionable and self-made, yet she hasn’t had a date in 35 years.
Before we get to the whole dating thing, let’s remember that Keaton also said she doesn’t have any friends. Adding she is the oldest single American. That does sound scary on more than one level. First, if you are A list celebrity and you cannot find a date, how are the rest of us, mere mortals supposed to feel? Then there is the whole question of having it all. Why can’t successful women have just as successful marriages? Men can, yes, George Clooney comes to mind.
The legendary Keaton opened up to the newest InStyle issue. Here is what she had to say about dating: “I haven’t been on a date in, I would say, 35 years. No dates…I have a lot of male friends. I have a lot of friends, but no dates.”
If you check out Diane Keaton’s Twitter, you will see that she did give us hints. She asked for pictures of gorgeous men, she told Ellen she wants a lover and again, she drolled over “Magic Mike” poster.
The biggest hat lover in Hollywood, also spoke about how she found her love for the hats because we all need love. It can be a man, a hat, doesn’t matter. Miss Hat-lady said: “The truth is, it was on The Godfather [1972]. Dean Tavoularis was the [production] designer, and he was with this beautiful French girl. She had on a hat that was like something you’d see Cary Grant or one of those guys wear. It made me think, “Buy hats.” I thought, ‘God, that would be good. I could do that.” Which is the story of my life. ‘I could copy this. I could copy that. “
Since Diane is a style icon, she discovered her favorite fashion stores. ” I like Egg in London. Comme des Garçons. Noodle Stories in L.A. Dover Street Market. They carry all these unusual designers doing all kinds of things. I like Thom Browne, and I still love Ralph Lauren suits. They’re so well structured. And Maison Margiela.”
If you think you can handle a strong, powerful woman, with a great sense of humor and style, please, take Miss Diane Keaton out for a nice meal. Or take her shopping. Yes, 20-something girls are great, but what’s even better is talking to someone you can learn from.
