Last week Wimbledon 2019 was visited by the royals. This week, a prestigious tennis event brought more recognizable faces, from Hollywood celebrities to people are famous for being famous.
Sienna Miller suited up on Monday. She came to Wimbledon with her gal pal Poppy Delevigne and both ladies wore Ralph Lauren. The actress and the model looked like they are on New York Fashion Week, but they weren’t the only ones.
Day seven of Wimbledon 2019 was graced by Felicity Jones and her husband, as well as Rebel Wilson, Ruth Wilson and Pippa, and James Middleton.
While the majority of ladies wore beige and white, Pippa chose blushing pink Stella McCartney dress, while Rebel looked rebellious in a gorgeous red dress. Ruth wore jeans and opted for a casual, relaxed look, while Nicole Richie went full-on boho with a maxi floral dress.
Anna Wintour was there, which surprised no one. US Vogue editor is a huge tennis fan and her favorite is Roger Federer. Again, not surprising: they both seem to have warm personalities (read in a sarcastic voice).
Now that you got the fashion report, let’s focus on what’s really going on here. First, why are so many women wearing Ralph Lauren? Well, the designer, now also a Knight, is not just another sponsor, his favorite stars don’t have to worry about the seats. There is Polo Ralph Lauren Suite at The Championships. Add free clothes to all the publicity, you could book any fashion lover and make him or her a tennis fanatic.
Secondly, there’s a lack of celebrity events during the hottest months. So, once they are done with their holiday number one and two, many do decide to check out who’s who and who’s wearing what at the Wimbledon. After, they will continue with vacations.
As a third reason, I won’t say it is because even famous people love sports. That’s a given. Some of them really do follow tennis, but for most, it’s all about networking. Imagine watching a match while chatting with Meghan or Kate? You never know when the Royals might show up. Not to mention all the rich and famous faces we saw in the past. This is an elite event and yes, it’s okay to feel a bit jealous. Free clothes, free seats, free publicity, plus some memorable moments… It’s good to be famous.
Everyone’s favorite girl, 15-year-old Coco Gauff lost, but she is probably the biggest surprise of Wimbledon 2019. As for the rest and that includes more celebrity appearances, not just good tennis, we’ll have to wait and see.
Since this is a cross between sports and fashion, drop a comment on whose look would you steal and who are your favorites in Wimbledon 2019!
