Will Smith has a new clothing line, inspired by The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. After Aladin, the actor decided to join the 90s nostalgia and pay tribute to the role that launched his career.
90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was on the air from 1990 to 1996. Though the clothing line is sporty, the whole show had some great fashion moments. So, Smith isn’t copying the whole looks, just the ones his character wore.
Smith announced his collection on Instagram: “I put my thang down, flipped it and reversed it. Then I put it on sale. NEW MERCH!” The 50-year-old actor and rapper unveiled his Bel-Air Athletics line, which is available for purchase at Shop.WillSmith.com. Clever more, considering we cannot get enough of the 80s and the 90s.
Dressing like Smith’s Philly-to-Cali basketball star doesn’t come that cheap. Socks are $15, shirts between $30 to $40 and hoodies, track pants and a custom Bel-Air basketball run from $60. Not that cheap, yet check out the prices of fashion lines from other celebrities. Compared to them, Smith’s Bel-Air is pocket change.
If you are suffering from serious 90s withdraw, this line might cheer you up. But the clothing line does raise another question. In the age of reboots, is The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air next? Sure, there would be some major cast changes. Smith wouldn’t be able to play a teenager. But it could be done, and it’s not the worst idea.
In other news, actor/comedian/musician joined TikTok. The newish social media for short videos is getting celebrity approval. This micro news came at the same time as Jada Pinkett Smith revealed that she only recently feels like she’s entered an “adult relationship” with her husband. To be fair, even older people never get to that level.
