Alicia Silverstone Has a New Gig, Calls Out Starbucks

Alicia Silverstone is one of very few actors who didn’t chase the fame. After her iconic Clueless role, she even turned to Broadway, to escape the paparazzi and Hollywood in general. She told Vanity Fair: “I had no interest in being famous or maintaining any kind of fame.”

Things changed over time, but our topic of the day is Alicia Silverstone against Starbucks and her new non-acting role.

On a bright side, Crystal Deodorant welcomed Alicia Silverstone as its new brand ambassador. Silverstone is also a best-selling author and health advocate and one of Crystal Deodorant’s longtime users. The actress commented: “I’ve used Crystal Deodorant for over 20 years because it’s safe, vegan and it works. I am proud to partner with a company that shares my values and is committed to making healthier and kinder products.”

Silverstone is a vegan and she lives a lifestyle that has a low impact on the environment. She is devoted to living sustainably, so she called out Starbucks on Twitter, with a reason. It went viral and the coffee chain responded.

Alicia Silverstone added she was charged more for plant-based milk. Also, a barista used a disposable cup just to transfer the milk to her reusable cup. A Starbucks spokesperson has provided the following statement to BuzzFeed:

“Starbucks baristas are encouraged to craft beverages directly in customers’ reusable cups whenever possible. Building on our long standing commitment to sustainability and an elevated customer experience, we will take this opportunity to review guidance to our partners about personal cup use as we continue to be mindful of waste.

Regarding alternative milks, adding a splash of any alternative milk to brewed or iced coffee, cold brew or an Americano is always free of charge. The price of our beverages is based on a standard recipe. Any customizations that are not part of the standard recipe, which could include added flavors, alternative milk, or an additional shot of espresso, will incur a small surcharge.”
