Mike Johnson Opens Up About Peter Weber, the Next Bachelor

Peter Weber is the next Bachelor. Naturally, the fans are divided, and so is the cast, though they have to hide their true feeling. Well, Mike Johnson is not having any of it. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, after Bachelor in Paradise finale, Johnson felt like having a black or Asian Bachelor was long overdue.

Peter Weber fans didn’t bother to make posters themselves

“I think of diversity [as] more than just black and white,” Johnson, 31, said. Yes, Peter has a Cuban mom, but let’s just be honest: he’s white, right? And that’s just being completely transparent.” Then Mike Johnson, who was recently connected to Demi Lovato, continued: ” I think that there should be an Asian lead, an Indian lead … diversity is not just black and white. It’s not just salt and pepper.”

Peter Weber aka Pilot Pete

But, don’t think that 31-year old Bachelorette star doesn’t support Peter Weber aka Pilot Pete. Johnson pointed out that they are “two completely different people — both good people, kind-hearted people.” And he has faith in ABC, despite the lack of diversity: “After 24 Bachelors, a black Bachelor should have been cast. But at the same time, ABC has been successful. They know what they’re doing for their audience. They know what they’re looking for. I wasn’t the guy they were looking for at the moment. ”

And the best Bachelor Nation tweet goes to…

Mike got support from Rachel Lindsay, first and only Bachelorette so far. “I think Peter seems like a very nice guy. He seems lovely. This is absolutely nothing against him, but how many Peters have we seen before? What season are we on? 24. So, we’ve seen 24 Peters.” Lindsay told Entertainment Tonight. “I’m bored. And it’s nothing personal against him.”

Hopefully, we will see more of Mike Johnson and Derek Peth

Rachel added: “Something has to be done. Break the rules, step outside the box, give the people what they want!” Yes, we wanted Mike or Derek but got Peter. But, the Bachelor survived Colton and Arie, so it will be fine. Better luck next time to all non-white Bachelors.

Bachelor in Paradise history: First Gay Couple Demi & Kristian

Season 24 of The Bachelor will premiere on Jan. 6, 2020. As for Bachelor in Paradise couples, Connor Saeli and Whitney Fransway broke up. Katie and Chris are still together, which is 50 shades of weird. And for no good reason, the finale didn’t give us Clay/Nicole closure. And did you see Blake? That dude is so not going to be called to Paradise next year…
