Movember or NoShavember is not some social media thing millennials do for fun. It is a great cause, and everyone should join. Let’s found out why!
The Movember Foundation started in 2003. The idea is to tackle men’s health on a global scale. Today, 21 countries are involved and over 5 million men. The Foundation puts its money towards research into prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health and suicide prevention of men. Movember Foundation raised over 700 million dollars so far.
NoShavember is a different organization, with the same goal. People are losing hair due to cancer treatments and all you need to do is visit the website and donate all the hair from one month without shaving. Getting involved or even just talking about real health issues is a necessity. NoShavember Organization is focused on cancer prevention regardless of gender.
Movember or NoShavember is more than raising money. The idea is for people to start talking. We still see prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health as something shameful. Men are less likely to tell someone about their depression or anxiety. They also are more likely to commit suicide. And going to regular exams for prostate or testicular cancer makes most feel emasculated. Even just a simple conversation can be painful. It is up to us to change that.
The rules are simple: ditch your razor and start growing mustache. Many companies joined the charity, and it’s not just about men. Women are part of NoShavember as well.
