Models Call for Victoria’s Secret to Fight Sexual Harassment in a Petition

Over 100 models signed the new petition to stop sexual assaults and harassment in the industry. In an open letter to Victoria’s Secret, Christy Turlington Burns, Milla Jovovich, and other supermodels called asked the company to join the RESPECT Program. RESPECT Program is a model alliance which promotes safety in the modeling industry.

The letter states: “If Victoria’s Secret were to take a stand against these abuses and commit to meaningful change by joining the RESPECT Program, this would go a long way in helping our industry chart a new path forward.”

As we previously mentioned, Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show has been canceled. The company is currently fighting its Epstein connections. According to the New York Times, Jeffrey Epstein, the financier, who is also a registered sex offender and was recently arrested for alleged sex trafficking, pretended to work as VS agent. But, it is still unknown if and how many people from Victoria’s Secret knew about this.

Ed Razek, the chief marketing officer at Victoria’s Secret, who last year claimed transsexual models should not be cast for VSFS, resigned. The news comes just hours after the company presented the first transexual model, Valentina Sampaio as a spokesperson.

The petition is supported by Time’s Up. What’s to come, one can only imagine. The last time someone reexamined the modeling industry was back in 1999. BBC reporters caught Elite’s directors in a series of disturbing conversations. Some left the agency, but what really came to light was what was going on behind the curtains of Elite Model Look.

The fashion industry got another surprise wake up call. Popular Instagram account, Diet Prada got in touch with aspiring models and confronted photographer Marcus Hyde. Allegedly, LA-based photographer asked for nudes and more from the girls, I say girls because not all of them were over 18. He’s known for his work with Ariana Grande, Kim Kardashian, and more. Remember, this is just the tip of the iceberg.
