You all know Jay Z and his perfect sense for business. He knows what’s in and what’s out before we even heard about it. Now, he is officially the first rapper to be worth one billion dollars, which is pretty big deal, we have to agree.

Jay Z’s impressive journey to stardom started in Brooklyn. He was a drug dealer, then he turned to music and slowly started building an empire. Once he met Beyonce, he was on the top of the world. Guess what? Almost three decades later, he is still at that spot.

Artist, fashionista, Grammy winner, but most of all, amazing businessman, invests money in cognac, champagne, Tidal, art collection and naturally real estate. He is private enough, so no one can say “Oh, not him again.” Yet, when he is touring (mostly with his wife) he’s a perfect professional.

Jay Z is the fifth black American billionaire, so that makes him an inspiration and icon. You don’t have to like his music, but he has earned respect, just for playing by his rules and always keeping busy. The lesson here is simple: hard work pays off.
