Supermodel Heidi Klum married musician Tom Kaulitz in a private ceremony in February. Despite being 16 years his senior, Heidi and Tom look like a match made in heaven. His latest gift is anything but ordinary, but it is thoughtful and interesting. Let’s see what former Victoria’s Secret angel got.
The 46-year-old supermodel posted an Instagram video which shows a piece of the Berlin Wall being craned into their garden, painted by Thierry Noir. Heidi Klum was born in West Germany in 1973. Her guitarist husband was born in East Germany in 1989, the year the wall fell. German beauty explained: “My husband was born behind the wall on the East Berlin side 4 weeks before it was torn down in 1989. This allowed him to grow up in a Germany that was unlike the country his own parents had grown up in…”
While some might find this gift weird, it is a piece of history. She is a self-made millionaire, so why give her diamonds, when you can share parts of your heritage? Klum got philosophical, adding: “Every morning, I will look at this beautiful piece in my garden with the knowledge that walls do not need to be built… they need to come down.”
Heidi Klum and Tom Kaulitz from Tokio Hotel started dating last year. This February he became her third husband. And they got another wedding on the yacht Christina O, named after Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis’ daughter.
Thierry Noir is one of the most important street artists. He came to Berlin in 1984 and started painting the wall. The French artist “wanted to cover the wall with colors to wrap it up with paintings. To make it luminous, to show it as a mutation in the city. A mutation in art and nature.” Despite the arrests, he didn’t give up and Noir still lives and works in Berlin.
Strange, yet a fascinating gift, wouldn’t you agree?
