Ever since the end of Christopher Nolan’s highly-rated Dark Knight trilogy, many people eagerly anticipated Warner Bros’ next Batman series. When the entertainment giant eventually announced the imminent production of “The Batman,” it sent their entire fanbase into a frenzy.
However, things took a new turn when the fans found out that Ben Affleck wouldn’t play the caped crusader character. Ever since then, they have been anxiously waiting to know who will step into Ben’s shoes and play the role of Bruce Wayne.
The rumors have been flying around for a while, and the speculations continually grow stronger every day. But now, we have an official statement from Warner Bros that Pattinson is the new Dark Knight.
In an announcement that seemingly put an end to the rumors and speculations flying around, Warner Bros confirmed Actor Robert Pattinson would act the new Batman.
New Batman: A close call between Robert Pattinson and Nicholas Hoult
Previously, some online media reported that Pattinson, and some few actors, topped the list of the frontrunners for the character. In the end, Warner Bros decided to hand over the role to Pattinson after making some final considerations and tests. The decision didn’t come easy though, as the studio also considered Actor Nicholas Hoult at some point.
The announcement generated a mixed reaction of both support and criticism of Robert Pattinson. While some people expect the DC actor to perform exceptionally well in his new position, others express doubt.
We can only hope Matt Reeves could recreate the incredible feat he achieved in the past. Reeves has the support of producer Dylan Clark who worked with him during the making of the Planet of Apes trilogy.
New Trilogy takes us back to the Batman’s formative years
According to media reports, the new Batman trilogy will air in 2021 and center on Bruce Wayne’s formative years. The Batman will show the life of a younger Bruce Wayne getting started with his investigative work, albeit without action.
