There are two reasons to collect art pieces: you either love it, or you are making an investment. With celebrities, it is probably a combination of both, so let’s find out who’s got the best art pieces in the world of rich and famous.

Jay Z and Beyonce are the king and the queen of the extravagance. From their videos to their homes and parties, everything about them is impressive. That includes their art collection. Jay Z worked on an art performance with Marina Abramović, made a song “Picasso Baby” and among reported pieces you can find works by Andy Warhol, Tim Noble, Laurie Simmons, Ed Ruscha, Shepard Fairey, Richard Prince and Jean-Michel Basquiat in their homes. While it is evident that the couple knows how to make big bucks, it is pretty certain that they enjoy art. After all, they always come up with something new, so maybe this is where the inspiration comes from.

Leonardo DiCaprio co-hosted LACMA’s glittering art + Film Gala, proving his knowledge of art. He also paid 700.000USD for unfinished works of Takashi Murakami. Notoriously private actor’s current collection reportedly includes work by Oscar Murillo and Salvador Dalí. One of his best friends, Tobey Maguire, is also a big art lover and you will find mostly Kaz Oshiro’s and Mark Ryden’s works.

Eric Clapton dropped out of art school to become a musician. He is passionate about his music, but he is also among the most prominent art collectors in the world. Clapton also made a serious profit from the art game so that you can find him on every significant Christie’s auction. Among his possessions were Degas’s Le Sommeil, Matisse’s Nu Debout, Utrillo’s Le Bouquet and others by Serge Poliakoff, Bridget Riley, Sir Matthew Smith, and Severini. No one knows for sure what he has in his homes now.

Pop Queen, Madonna, has a legendary collection worth over 100 million. But she also made art, with Secretprojectrevolution projection by  Steven Klein, among pieces that make her collection exquisite, you can find pieces by  Picasso, Hopper, Kahlo, Leger, Dali, Man Ray, Hirst, Tamara de Lempicka,

Singer/songwriter is not only a considerable philanthropist, but his knowledge of art is quite envious. And he has quite the taste, if I may add.

Steve Martin’s biggest hobby is collecting precious pieces and among it are names such as Francis Bacon, Cindy Sherman, Pablo Picasso, and Eric Fischl. A name that cannot be skipped – George Michael. The late singer/songwriter was not an actual art collector, but he did own John Lennon’s piano, which has to count for something. Also it is also well known that Brad Pitt is quite an art supporter, and so are the Beckhams. 

Pharrell Williams and Lady Gaga adore contemporary art pieces. It is relatively evident since their music, and visual personas are quite in touch with modern arts. However, would you ever guess that Mary-Kate Olsen is also a vast contemporary art lover? Not only there were rumors about her affairs with artists, but she also has works by Andy Warhol and Nobuyoshi Araki.
